Immortality

In the known World, death is regarded as certain and absolute. While some beings can live for centuries, all creatures, even spirits and living weapons, are ultimately mortal and doomed to a final oblivion. While most regard this as an immutable natural law, many others believe that immortality can be obtained and death conquered. This belief and hope has led to many bizarre experiments and societies built to conduct them. While none have reached their goal, some have found ways to increase longevity, reduce the signs of aging, and put individuals into stasis. Others have sought a more philosophical approach and find immortality in art, literature, and children. Some instead embrace the futility of such efforts and instead try to enforce death, forming Entropy Cults devoted to celebrating brevity and tearing down attempts to defy mortality.
